Tukuuludaa Bering Sea-Based Design and Education Center’s co-founders' book, “Sergie and the White Seal,” to be held at the Kipling Library in the United Kingdom
At the end of January 2026, Garrett Iĝayux̂ and Hannah Atsaq got in touch with the secretary of the Rudyard Kipling Society, Mike Kipling, about our upcoming decolonized retelling of Rudyard Kipling’s original Jungle Book story, The White Seal. Kipling declared the retelling “a fantastic idea,” and pre-ordered a copy for the official Kipling Library in the United Kingdom. Our retelling will be side-by-side with the original book, not as a replacement for Kipling’s story, but as a modern-day tribute to the world he described but never saw for himself, written by people who live in it.
The Kipling Library is located in Hertford, England, UK, where soon enough patrons will be able to read and view “Sergie and the white seal: a St. Paul Island-based Unangan fantasy novel".
